Senior Hydrogeologist position requires 5-15 years hydrogeology experience with a MS in Hydrogeology or similar credentials. Must be proficient with numerical groundwater flow modeling and characterization of fractured rock and Coastal Plain aquifer systems. Position is heavily concentrated in hydrogeologic evaluations for on-site wastewater disposal, groundwater resource explanation/development and modeling/interpretation of aquifer system behavior. Professional geologist registration and experience with regulatory agency permitting process in Maryland and Delaware are definite pluses. Strong and efficient writing skills are necessary.

Staff level Hydrogeologist position requires 1-2 years experience with a BS or MS, strong organization and writing skills. Must be able to setup and perform aquifer tests and other hydraulic testing. Should also have experience utilizing hydraulic instrumentation such as automated sampling systems, transducer, etc.

 

Environmental Scientists should have 2 to 5+ years experience performing Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments, and a B.S. in environmentally-related field (e.g. geology, engineering, etc). Strong communication, organization, and writing skills are desirable.

GIS Database Manager/Specialist

Position Description

Provide data and analytical support to a diverse team of marine scientists and policy analysts, using strong skills in GIS and database design and maintenance. Produce data, analysis and map products to various assessment reports about spatial management on the US west coast and throughout US waters. Compile and synthesize existing data on marine ecosystems and human uses. Design, develop and/or modify existing or new databases to ensure functionality, user access, and that data needs are met.

 

Required Skills

4.5-7 years relevant, applied marine experience as it relates to GIS and Database Management. Strong command of the use of GIS technology (e.g., ArcInfo, ArcGIS, ArcIMS) and Database Management Systems (e.g., MS Access). Ability to compile, integrate, and synthesize multi-disciplinary (e.g., ecological, cultural, human use) data, to plan and conduct assessments of spatial data, and to integrate computer models and other biological, cultural, and oceanographic data tools with resource management practices. Experience designing and validating geodatabases and in basic statistical methods and software (e.g. SAS, JMP).  Experience in project management including planning and managing projects independently; developing and implementing long-range plans for GIS capabilities; coordinating the acquisition and management of GIS data with other agencies; and the ability to generate targeted products within established timetables.  Strong oral and written communication skills.

 

Education

Bachelors degree in natural, social, environmental, or earth sciences; natural resource management; geography; information technology; conservation/land use planning; or other relevant degree.  Masters degree preferred.

GIS/Remote Sensing Specialist

Position Description

Develop and apply remote sensing technology and applied methods to help solve marine biogeography and related conservation issues.  Integrate remote sensing and GIS; provide technical expertise on the application of remote sensing image analysis techniques; perform digital image processing and image interpretation; evaluate GIS analysis results using rigorous statistical analysis. Plan, conduct, and coordinate field verification and ground truthing of remote sensing data and products.

 

Required Skills

4 years experience in remote sensing, image interpretation and digital image processing, remote sensing and image analysis, and its integration with GIS. Experience with change detection, image classification, image calibration, rectification, and with statistical analysis; satellite imagery products (Landsat, IKONOS, MODIS) including acquisition and archiving procedures; and synthesis and integration of remotely sensed data into a wide range of biogeographic data to generate underlying patterns and trends. Experience with Erdas IMAGINE, eCognition, ENVI, IDRISI, GRASS, PCI, ERMapper, and similar software. Must be current on conservation issues and modern approaches and initiatives including recent technological advances in remote sensing and prefer experience in the application of remote sensing to conservation. Ability to travel to remote locations for field work when necessary.

 

Education

Masters degree in Conservation Biology, Geography, Remote Sensing or related discipline.

Geologist/Geophysicist

 

Position Description
Will work from cradle-to-grave on projects conducting environmental, geologic, and/or geophysical investigation. Will perform fieldwork, data analysis, and write reports.

 

Required Skills

Geology, geophysics, or environmental background and education a must.  Prefer 2 years experience, but will train the right candidate.

 

Education
