A lot of information has been bouncing back and forth regarding the proposed Maryland Professional Geologist Registration that was tabled last year. One disturbing bit of information was the way the Maryland Professional Engineers vehemently opposed the bill claiming several false items in their newsletter and in their own words, "...This would have usurped the practice of engineering and we strongly opposed the bill..." Apparently, their opposition was all about their jobs and not about professional cooperation or public safety issues. Obviously, as Engineering Geologists, we need to make the effort to support this bill when it comes back into session.

The Joint Task Force on Areas of Practice (JTFAP) document Engineering and Geology Practice Guidelines is almost finished! There is less than a month left to comment. We are planning a meeting next month to discuss the document.
